Built in 1739 and designed by the famed architect Richard Castles, the magni?cent silhouette of Carton House overlooks one of Ireland’s most impressive country estates with majestic authority.
Carton House has opened its doors as a luxury hotel. Minimalist interiors, spacious modern rooms, contemporary art and sparkling chandeliers contrast magnificently with the untouched classic exterior and original antique pieces. Following this fantastic makeover, Carton House is now welcoming guests to experience this enchanting world, steeped in history, but with all the comforts of a luxury hotel. Just half an hour outside Dublin, the beautifully elegant Palladian house is set in over a thousand acres of stunning parkland, and has attracted a long list of glamorous guests from Queen Victoria to Grace Kelly.
The bright colours and contemporary artwork of the reception welcomes guests into the lavish and indulgent world of Carton House. With the expert eye of acclaimed architects and designers Carton House is an aesthetic masterpiece. Striking modern art adorns the walls and large glass windows flood the reception with natural light, while high ceilings across the main house create a sense of space and grandeur. The curved corridors are decorated with black and white photographs of the original house, leading guests on an alluring journey through the history of the estate.
The Carton House Hotel boasts 147 luxurious bedrooms that are contemporary, simple and chic. All rooms have king-sized beds with colourful cushions, bath and power showers, thick white towelling robes, flat-screen TVs, Wifi, a sofa and desk, air-conditioning and minibar. The 18 historical suites in the original house are larger and more decadent with emphasis on design features unique to the original room, and for the ultimate in comfort and design, the Lady Emily Suite, accessed either by the grand main staircase or the state-of-the-art Milanese lift, has its own sitting room with sweeping views of the stunning grounds.
The Kitchen Bar is intimate and has an understated ambience; it has been created to provide guests with homely dishes from soups to pasta to be eaten around the aga cooker framed with original antique tiles, while contrasting modern leather seating provide the laid back vibe. The next door Cocktail Bar provides a touch of sophistication with a 1920’s inspired design of the bar. Carton House has a number of lounge areas, which flow into one another they are a perfect place to unwind and relax. They are as follows; The Drawing Room, The Dukes Study, The Library, The Gold Saloon, The Snooker Room. The Carton House Clubhouse - After a challenging day on the golf course, the distinctive Carton Clubhouse offers golfers and visitors alike a chance to enjoy excellent dining in a beautiful relaxed setting. The former stable block was renovated and remodelled into a beautifully appointed clubhouse and retains all the features of the old stable area.
