Alongside the monster-length golf courses in this region like "The European Club " and "Druid's Glen", albeit in deferent styles, is the parkland landscape of the Coutown Golf course, and it is like a breath of fresh air.

Although the golf course lies close to the sea, trees form a natural shelter from the frequent wind, even though in return off-target big-hitters might find them a little too big for comfort. Add to this country scene with its rolling contours of small hills and you get a course that is pleasant and varied. No two holes are the same.

With medium sized greens that are thickly grassed and true, plus a nice balance between holes presumed to be easy and others that are more demanding, Courtown is one of those good but somewhat old fashioned golf courses, compared to today's modern designs- that everyone enjoys playing.

After a cheerful welcome in the club house, no one will feel too intimidated on the first tee.
