Opened in May 1993, Faithlegg golf course was designed by renowned Irish golf courses architect Paddy Merrigan. Boasting a superb setting on the banks of the River Suir, the course has been cleverly moulded into a wonderful landscape of mature trees, flowing parkland and some five lakes.
Situated on a 200 acre estate, just 6 miles from Waterford City in the heart of Ireland’s sunny South East, Faithlegg is the ideal venue for individuals and corporate or society outings. For visiting golfers, Faithlegg is the perfect inclusion as part of any golfing itinerary in the region.
The superb parkland layout, with tricky doglegs, blind tee shots and strategically positioned sand traps, represents a stiff challenge for even the most accomplished golfers. At a championship yardage of 6,674 and a regular yardage from the white markers of 6,284, distance is rarely the main problem in negotiating a good score at Faithlegg.
The perils of the course lie more in its clever layout and slick, often wickedly contoured greens. Any round of golf at Faithlegg will test the golfers shot making skills to the limit. Rolling straight and true year round, the greens at Faithlegg are finely manicured, often perilously fast in summer months. They represent the perfect distance to a potentially low return. Varying pin placement puts the emphasis on accurate approach shots as inaccuracy is often aptly rewarded by long meandering putts to another level, perfectly exemplified by the par four 18th, a fitting end to a fantastic golfing experience.
Set amongst mature woodland, the setting, scenery and condition of Faithlegg Golf Course belies its relative youth in golfing terms. Running alongside the picturesque Suir Estuary for much of the layout, wildlife abounds throughout the estate. While every golfer can be assured a visually stimulating round, whether their score remains a sense of pride after 18 superb holes, often depends on how well the inherently tricky greens were negotiated.
Golfers have the choice of a gourmet dining experience at the magnificent 18th century Faithlegg House Hotel or partaking of the wholesome fare of the clubhouse. Clubs, buggies and caddies are available for rental from the well stocked pro-shop located on the ground floor of the clubhouse. Advanced booking is advised.
CLUB HOUSE Faithlegg Club House offers top quality facilities open to everyone, all year round. Golfers and non-golfing visitors are welcome to relax in the magnificent club house, once the coach house to the 18th century Faithlegg mansion, now tastefully remodelled offering spectacular uninterrupted views of the golf course, particularly the 1st tee and the 18th green.
Open since 1993, the club house offers comprehensive facilities and services to golfers and their guests. At ground floor level you’ll find superb locker rooms and a well stocked pro- shop selling official golf merchandise and equipment run by the resident professional, Derry Kiely. Expert tuition and a range of rental equipment are also available from the resident PGA professionals.
The second floor of this uniquely designed club house exudes a warm atmosphere with its wooden beamed ceilings, rustic furnishings and open plan layout. The lounge, bar and dining areas are located here and the spacious glass fronted bar with its panoramic views of the course is the ideal place to enjoy a well earned drink and snack while recounting the days glories.
Lunch and dinner is served in the adjoining restaurant where a wooden rafted ceiling adds to the relaxing atmosphere.
The Club House can cater for private parties, golf societies and corporate events. In the restaurant, parties of up to 36 people can enjoy a buffet or a set menu created from a wide choice of fresh local ingredients.
The open plan design incorporating the snug restaurant and lounge lends itself perfectly to accommodating larger groups of up to 150 people ideally suiting corporate events and prize-giving ceremonies. Scoreboard facilities can also be arranged and updated throughout a competition or tournament. There are ample car parking facilities available.
