Newcastle West, in the delightful Irish County of Limerick, is a relatively new golf course. It is set in 160 acres of unspoilt quiet countryside, and has been built to the highest standards on sandy free draining soil.
The club was originally founded in 1938, although it moved to its current site, in the quaint little village of Ardagh, in1994. Ardagh is famed as the finding place of Ireland's National treasure "The Ardagh Chalice".
The new course, designed by Arthur Spring, has been built to the highest standards on sandy free draining soil, and is in year-round top condition.
An extensive practice area and driving range is also included. The Newcastle West parkland course features gentle slopes, trees and water features, and is particularly open with each hole a different challenge to golfers of all levels.
The fine cut stone buildings have been renovated to provide changing rooms, while the old stables now house a bar and restaurant facilities for all visitors.
