Seapoint golf links was designed by 'Des Smythand Associates' and opened in June 1993.

Seapoint Golf Club plays host to a really atmospheric presence, with large sections of the course winding through heather and a more rural landscape. This is rather an attractive contrast, and gives the impression of a golf course gradually building up speed through to the closing holes, all very spectacular and exciting when using the match-play format.

The wind often has a word or two to say on Seapoint Golf Course. Good ball control is required, especially with tee shots, in order to avoid the fairway bunkers and to get a good view of the greens to keep out of the often dangerous greenside traps.

These greens are large and distinguished more by general slopes than by individual contouring. By and large, the difficulties are clearly visible and water features come into play on the 4th and 9th holes. So at least you can start out here with a degree of confidence.

The beauty of Links Golf means the course is playable 365 days per year (There are only 150 links golf courses in the world). Four sets of tee boxes on most holes and large manicured greens are features that are a pleasure to golfers all year round.

Mature trees border the course on the west and offer a contrast to the links, while water hazards come into play on five of the first nine holes. The closing holes are bordered by the beach and offer magnificent views of the East Coast, the Mountains of Mourne and the Irish Sea.

Irrigation is installed on all tee's, fairways and greens and a progressive plan is in place for course maintenance and development.
