This delightful course is located close to Shannon airport. It's a great starting point for a golfing holiday in the region, with enough difficulties to get you into your stride. High handicappers though might not feel so confident about it.
Shannon Golf Course is set in a park landscape, the trees are always in play, but there are not enough of them to trouble even the most claustrophobic player, despite the tightness of some fairways. The essential difficulties are the bunkers and many water hazards, which call for some straight driving and good club selection for the second shot.
Most holes give you the choice of lofted approaches or rolled shots,
however just following the layout is not enough here, you need to take
the initiative. With well-spread hazards and a pleasant variety of holes,
this complete course requires some powerful hitting when playing from
the back tees.
