Location - 6 miles / 10 km from Blessington, off the N81 road to Baltinglass.
With a hotel on site, this course is very attractively located on the shores of lake Blessington. The layout that has been restyled and completed by P.J. Merrigan is well suited to all levels of golfing ability. The fairways are wide, with bold routes to beckon the long-hitters additionally safer ways forward for the lesser players, the use of trees, sand and water hazards are cleverly balanced.
In this respect, the fairway and greenside bunkers are particularly well located. The design successfully manages to retain a certain local colour despite the foreign architectural influences, because the natural landscape has been left unspoilt.
High handicappers will certainly find it something of a stiff challenge, but they will be glad to have had a go. This still very young course has a brilliant future ahead of it, and we would not be at all surprised if it were to become one of Ireland's very best inland courses.
